I'm home safely. I'll have to post some pics and tell what I did on my vacation later.Stuff happened, things occurred, and and and so more stuff will happen. :-)

10:58 pm - I'm Still Here!
I got back here safely and I've been busy since I got back over here to Iraq. I'm not on convoys anymore, now I'm on midnight shift gate guard.

Cameras aren't allowed out by the gate, so I didn't get any pics of the cute Kurdish guy who works with us or the hedgehog that one of the other guys caught the other night. The hedgehog was really cute and after everyone got a chance to see it, we let it go.

The wavy lace shawl I'm working on is almost done. I only need to do the lace border on the second end. I also finished a small sweater for a teddy bear I have at home and a cotton crochet bag that was my plane ride project when I went home on leave. I have some pics of those but I'll have to post them next time I'm online. I left my camera in my room.

5:29 pm - Knitting Olympic Pics N Stuff
I'm almost done with the first of the two Kureyon Kosies. It was going too quickly, I misunderestimated how long they would take to do. So, I started doing the Two Needle Baby Sweater from Elizabeth Zimmerman's Knitter's Almanac for some "interference". I might have all three Items done or maybe just the two Kosies by the end of the Olympics.

10:07 pm - More recent projects ^_^
Here are a few recent pics of my projects.

The loverly shoes and petticoat I ordered arrived, so now I can get my dress made. Can you believe they have THREE tailor shops here?!? They try to keep up the quality of life for the troops out here. Besides the Post Exchange (official military store) they have small businesses run by local or Turkish people that sell all kinds of stuff. Even with all the stuff avaliable out here (bootleg DVDs) there are still things they DON'T have. Like knitting supplies and other hobby stuff. A group of us play Dungeons and Dragons out here and we have to order online any game supplies we didn't bring with us. Maybe next time I'll post a couple pics of us playing.

Now I just have to wait to start. I'll get photos and hopefully remember to try to post them.

8:29 pm - deployed <-_->
So far I finished the socks I was working on just before I left. and since I arrived at Ft. Bliss I started and finished a yellow doily-style washcloth, started a sock, started a blue washcloth, worked on my red scarf sash project, and did a few rows on my mittens. I'm doing well so far, and as soon as I have an address I'll try to post it if anyone wants to write to some soldiers.

7:36 am - F*CK!!!11!1!!1111
I usually don't swear, but I think I deserve to this time.

I an in the Army Reseves and I had been in the Active Duty Army for 3.5 years before that. Friday morning I go to Muskegon For the 3 day Drill weekend and they tell me I am going to be

Deployed With Another Unit (Possibbly to Iraq or Kuwait)

Monday And Tuseday I will be in Minnesota to SRP (Soldier Readiness P(?)). They basically check all my legal/pay/records paperwork and a check up and shots to make sure I'm ready to deploy. I'm digustingly healthy, so I'm sure I'm going. The orders to pack and leave may even be waiting for me when I get home Tuesday night. F*CK!!!!1!1!!!11

So much for trying to blog on here almost every day. And so much for school. I'll post when I can. If I'm lucky I'll have internet over there.

Also, I whipped up the HP scarf on my knitting machine. Now I'm just seaming up the edge and then I can do the fringe. Don't know if I should start my sweater, I may have to leave before I can finish it.

9:47 am - Happy Fourth-Of-July yesterday!
Happly Fourth of July for yesterday to eveyone and Happy Canada Day a few das ago for the Canadians.

I had to go in to work Saturday even tho I was scheduled to have off. I Was Not Happy. X-x But I went anyways, because no one else would and the work has to get done sooner or later.

Spent most (all) of yesterday morning in the basement. I was plotting to make a V-neck button-up cardigan to wear to school in the fall. I had whipped up a swatch the night before and let it relax overnight before I measured it. Knitting machines streach out the knitting as it knits, so you have to let it relax overnight or wash it before you can check your guage. I'll probly knit the cardigan with the #4 (largest) keyplate so the fabric isn't tight and stiff. I have a grey yarn my stepmom gave me when I inherited a bunch of her old stash. I have eight or nine balls of it, should be plenty. It is grey with a strand that goes from pink to white to blue, and I have a soft navy yarn to use for a stripe through the ribbing sections. I also am planning to either knit-in or duplicate stitch the school logo on the left side of the jacket with the navy.I'll HAVE to get pics one I get the thing done.

9:20 pm - Wednesday at the Knitting Shack
It was just me and my sister there with Mrs. Dawn (shop owner) and her mother. We just talked about stuff and Dawn and I each knit on our projects. Dawn is working on EZ's Pie are Square Shawl from Knitting Around.
Her mom was crocheting some afghan squares and my sister brought along a book to color (she doesn't knit or crochet). It was fun, but it'd be more fun if more people stopped in.

Need to do the last section and the border on the display project. Then I can get back to that poor, neglected sock. I want to play with my USM (Ultimate Sweater Machine) tomarrow too.

I need to go get ready for work. I work 10pm to 6:30am tonight.

5:29 pm - Wow, that was quick.
I started (and finished) a scarf on my Knitting Machine. Not the HP scarf, but one of the patterns in the book that came with the KM. They tell you to do one each of all the patterns in the book so you can get a hang of the techinques used. Each project teaches you one or two new things. The stupid scarf I made you drop every other stitch so that the remaining stiches get big and loose. Getting all the stitches to run was annoying at first, but if figured out that if I pull on the sides then pull on it vertically lots of stiches unravel and it gets done faster.

Someday I'll get pics and show of some of this stuff.
Anyweays, I'm going to the wednesday knitting social at The Knitting Shack. Maybe I can tell a bit about it tomarrow.

12:21 am - HP scarf planning update (kind of)
It turns out I will need 800 yards of the navy and 200 of the gold/bronze. I only have about 400 yards of the navy so I'll need 2 more balls of it. Got enough of the gold, about 225 or so yards in a ball, so the one ball of the gold will do. But that's OK I can get it started for now, once I finish fooling around with the sample/test/practice piece.

8:17 pm - I wanna be an Artist when I grow up...

Now I just need to fill out forms for admission/financial aid/GI Bill monies/Tuition assistance etc. AND get a Portfolio together. yay. I'll have to see what I can do for the portfolio requirements. About half needs to be stuff like still lifes X-< and things they make you do in high school art class. EW!!!!

Still workin on the demo thing and the .75 regia sock. Also, I got some wool yarn to make a Ravenclaw Harry Potter scarf, but I need to check if I bought enough or not. I want to do the HP scarf on my knitting machine. Scarves take for-freaking-evar to do by hand!!1!1!!11

5:45 pm - updated FO and WIP lists
I updated my Finished Objects and Works In Progress lists in my LJ profile.

There's a new Knitting store near my house called The Knitting Shack. It just opened so they don't have alot, but what they do have is pretty nice. They carry Opal sock yarns and dome of the Dale yarns. They have a 10% off cupon for your entire purchase that is good until the end of September.
The lady (Her name is Dawn) who owns and runs it is really nice and likes to chat with everyone. Her mother helps out at the shop and I've met one of her daughters there too. She opened her own store because the other two LYS in the area aren't very friendly and the lady at the one store treats customers like she thinks they're gonna rob her blind or something.

Wednesdays 6-8 and Saturdays 2-4 she has FREE knitting and crochet social time (but she'll let you go hang out with her any other time as well)

The shop is on Division just north of 54th street in Wyoming, Michigan.

5:20 pm - Whats up an' currenly started projects...
I should try to post more often, at least once or twice a week if I can't do it every day. Maybe I'd get some people to comment then.

Got power to my PC, but still no internet.

I've started (and finished) a mostly garter stitch scarf to display at work in the yarn aisle. They kinda needed some finished items, they only had piles of yarn and booklets up as a display. The scarf is one skein of Lion Brand Homespun in Tudor. I did a stockinette panel in the blue sections and ribbing in the yellow sections and garter stitched the rest.

I have a Baltic Mitten started from the Folk Mittens book. 1.75 socks done using Regia Patch Antik. An Illusion knitting sample project for display at work about half done. And, I have a Bond Ultimate Sweater machine to play with. Some day maybe I can get some pics up or something. (having a decent digital camera would help!)
